Anyone know about a silversmith named "Milchen"?

Postby mbonan » Sat Apr 01, 2006 4:27 am

Two posts below this is a post regarding a set of six, 2" silver-plated goblets our family knows very little about, other than our grandmother carried them with her when she was exiled from Egypt during the 1950's by King Farouk. This platter (or tray) the six goblets had been displayed on (for years), seems to have been made in a different country (European as opposed to the Middle East or India). The platter is engraved (I've left it tarnished as I found it, with the six goblets' bases leaving "clean areas"). The back of the platter was hand-engraved with the name, "MILCHEN". Assume he was a European silversmith; time made might have been in the mid-1950's. Have been unable to locate any info on this platter. Any knowledge about the silversmith will be appreciated. Thanks. MB
