I've got 5 Forks...

I was cleaning out my Grandparents old apartment of everything that they were throwing out, and grabbed 5 forks for my apartment. That was 3 months ago. Today, on a jobsite, I let an older man borrow my fork to spread some cream cheese. He immediately said, "Hey, this is a nice fork". He quickly savvied me to the fact that 1: This is silver, and 2:It's French, 3: I could identify the silversmith and approximate value of the fork by closely examining the two seals on the inside of the fork. I have to admit, it has been quite fun trying to figure out. Using your site, I tried to find the identical mark, only to come up blank. Maybe it says SP? But I'm not sure. I didn't find any with stars... Please help if you can. It would be much appreciated.

I think the makers mark is Saglier Freres of Paris France and these forks appear to be silverplate. The manufacturer began using this mark around 1900.

The mark for silverplate indeed belongs to Saglier Frères, 12 rue d'Enghien, Paris. Successors to Victor Saglier.
