Hallmark on a ladle

Postby amena » Tue Mar 12, 2013 9:14 am

I have a very tatty ladle that has a hallmarkmark very worn but you can still see very well the number three in the upper part.
Does anyone can give me directions to recognize what hallmark it is?
thanks

Hello amena,
your mark with the number 3 looks like that one I find on my spoon from Geneva, Switzerland. Look Tardy 5th edition 2005 page 394. The maker I don't know.

That’s right; this was the mark for 3rd standard (.800) silver used in Geneva from 1815 to 1881. The maker is Isaac Amaron (1780-1850).

Thanks to all, without your help I would never have the match.
The figure on the Tardy looks very different.
