Could I please get some help ID on this Cigarette Case

Hi there,

I haven't had any luck being able to ID the marks on this cigarette case. I have no knowledge of Russian silver at all so i would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide. I am most grateful.

you are a lucky devil! No knowledge of Russian silver and at once a hit and not one of the numerous fakes flooding the market. Please do that not again exept you know what you do.
Here the informations:

Town mark (St. George) in use 1880: Moscow
Silver content: 84 Zolotniki = 875/1000
Maker: Nasarov, Sergej Iwanowitsch 1880-1908 (known umong other objects for his cigarette cases)

WoW! Thank you so much for the fast response. I can only attribute my good luck to dealing with an auction house that I trust but I guess even they could get fooled as well so I am very happy to know that I did well taking a chance on this. The piece interested me because it's quite lovely and there is an inscription inside that suggests it was given as a gift at a Baptism in 1901 or 1907.

Just thought that I would add a photo of the inscription, just for interests sake...The first part reads "Na pamiatke Chrztu" which is Polish and translates to "In Remembrance of Baptism". The rest is just names and a date. The date places the piece in the appropriate era for the maker. I'm researching the name C. Lehr to see if there is any significance to the era but so far nothing. If anyone has anything on that feel free to chime in. Cheers

Forgive me if I am wrong about the matter, but why has nobody mentioned the overstruck marks on this case??? Zolotnik, what are your thoughts?

Hi piette -

at a closer look you can see the (Kyr.) initials CH of (Lat.) Sergej I. Nasarov - additionaly overstruck with his firm´s logo. Rather normal and often seen. The pattern of the cigarette case is for us today not very imposant - but at that time it was something special - not offered by every manufacturer. Some examples:
