Postby dvkey » Sat Mar 25, 2006 3:04 pm

Item: Long Ice Tea Spoons
Pattern: Unknown
Maker Unknown, may be Newburyport Silver Co.
Marks: A spade as in Ace of Spades, NSC, each letter encased in a 6 sided box. Last: Capitol letters E. P. N. S.

Can anyone help identify?

Thank you for any help,
Dale W. Key

That might be the National Silver Company, New York, New York. They used several marks. I've seen one preceded by a shield. They were founded c.1900 and stopped making flatware around 1945.

Assuming its the pattern you'd like to identify, go to Replacements.com, and under their SILVER Tab, select N for manufacturers and peruse the six or seven flatware patterns they have listed for Newburyport. That might help you zero in on the manufacturer and year of the spoons you're trying to ID.
