Hi,
It looks somewhat malformed but it appears to be 1943, which fits in nicely with the makers who were Ward Brothers (Birmingham) Ltd., 124, Branston Lane, Hockley, Birmingham.

Never new who WBS was as I've run across that maker many times - so I appreciate that. I see that 'S' would be 1943 - though strangely malformed.
