Soviet union / russian rings help!

Postby silacka » Mon Jan 28, 2013 8:13 pm

Got these rings and would like to know more about them, what year, where from etc. i dont know anyhting about these hallmarks except for the silver quality 916 and 875.

Those three rings at the top are identical except for the hallmarks. All have 2J ?, 3 (hammer and sicle inside a five-pointed star), and 916. But one has number 2, other 23 and last 33. What do those numbers mean?

Then the last one, picture is a bit poor. I think the hallmarks are 9C10 and c (hammer and sicle inside a five-pointed star), 875.

Much appreciated if someone could interpret these.

They are Soviet marks and means different factories. Let's start from the last picture. The mark is 9СЮ c (Latin 9SYu c) It is "Yuvelirrno-granilynaja fabrika, Sverdlovsk" It means Jewelry-lapidary factory in Sverdlovsk. Your ring is made there in 1969.

Regarding the first marks you must take a better look and show drawings or or close ups of them. With your current information it is impossible say anything. It cannot be a "J" because J doesn't exist in the Cyrillic alphabet. Look also if there is any mark in front of the 2, dot or colon?

OK, now you're talking. It seems to be a bad struck but anyway "2TJ" and E for the Soviet Republic of Estonia (Latin alphabet in Estonia). That is "Tallinnskij Yuvelirnyj Zavod" Tallinn Jewelery factory. The rings are made in 1972.
