HERRMANN with LION stamp. ID help...

Hello,

I purchased this terrific, large 21" table mirror. It's only mark is a stamp at the top - the name Hermann, with a left facing lion in a round cartouche. The frame tests sterling, but I may not have scraped deeply enough. Any ideas on composition and origin? Could be Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Thanks. --Kent
