Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your item was assayed at Edinburgh in 1951. The marks are a little flattened but appear to be those of Thomas Kerr Ebbutt.

Thomas Kerr Ebbutt founded his business in 1896, he has previously been with Walker & Hall in Sheffield. His workshop was based at St David's Square, Edinburgh, from where he was a known maker of Highland dress accoutrements. The business was acquired by Hamilton & Inches in 1977.

Thank you so much Trev. I bought this knife yesterday in an antic store in Catania, Italy, Sicily. I really hoped it belonged to a scottish soldier who joined the Southern Italy WWII campaign. However, it's a nice old stag horn hilted knife.
