I know,I know

Postby amena » Fri Oct 05, 2012 8:47 am

I know, I know that 99% of Russian silver is a fake, but let me ask for confirmation to the experts. The mark resembles that of Ovchinnikov, but looks like only and begins with the letter C.
Thanks if anyone wants to give me information

Yes, unfortunately there is a lot of faked Russian silver on the market. I
Hate to say but haven't the faintest idea over who this S. Ovtchinnikov might be. There where some Ovtchinnikovs in Moskov around that time. Pavel O. and his sons Mihail, Aleksandr, Pavel jr. and Nikolai. Of them only Mihail marked but M.OVTCHINNIKOV. Then there were non-relatives Sergei Ivanovitch O., but he marked СО or СИО and Fedor Aleksejevitch O. who marked ФО. No other Os in Moskow. Sorry but I consider your vodka cup to be a suspect object. Spurious I would say.

Hi Qtr.S
Thanks for the response.
I keep wondering why a forger does not complete his forgery. Why make a punch with a non-existent itinitial .
For me it remains a mystery
greetings
