Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was born in London around 1785. There are various versions of his surname.
John Osborn (Grimwade p.610) may have been his brother. There are christenings of John Osbourn in 1775 and William Henry Osbourn in 1785 at St Giles, Cripplegate, both sons of John, a silversmith, and his wife Ann.
As the son of John Osborne he was made free by patrimony in the Goldsmiths Company in 1807.
He married Jane Hill at St Mary, Aldermanbury in 1812; both were from that parish.
Christening records from 1813-21 at St Giles in the Fields for six of their children show their address as 122 Great Russell Street and their father as a jeweller. He had entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a gold worker from this address in 1821.
Christening records at St Giles’ from 1823-35 for eight more of their children shows their address as 115 Great Russell Street and their father continuing as a jeweller.
His son William Henry Osborne (born 1816) applied for freedom by patrimony in the Goldsmiths Company in 1837.
Another of their children was christened at Holy Trinity, Brompton in 1838 when their address was Little Chelsea.
He was a goldsmith at St Thomas Street, St James,Westminster for the 1841 UK Census, at 2 Princes Street, Cavendish Square as a jeweller and silversmith in 1851, and had retired to Drayton Terrace, Kensington by 1861 where he and his wife lodged with their son Edgar (born 1835).
The death of William Henry Osborn aged 74 years was registered in Kensington later in 1861.
