Heavy ornate tray- crest marking?

Postby amanda » Thu Mar 09, 2006 1:32 am

This tray was in my house when I bought it, tucked away in an attic closet. My house was built in 1909, but who really knows when it got here. I would guess it weights 5-7lbs. 18"x 28" including the handles. I think it is sterling, not plated, but I don't know much. Hopefully someone can help me out. It has only one mark and a number 1202. The mark appears to be a crest/coat of arms. It is a shield with a knights head on top, facing left. Inside the ornate shield is a smaller shield with a triangle in it. Surrounding this smaller shield are three pictures. They look like flur-de-lis, that's why I was thinking it may be French. They may also be arrows or other flowers. Here are the images.
