Hall mark identification

Postby jonnyh43 » Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:58 pm

Hi everyone, i am having a hell of a lot of dificulty finding information on a marking on a ring i have.
It is a silver band ring with some of the most beautiful craftsmanship ive ever seen.
The craftsmanship is so good, i had to use a microscope to see the makers mark on the ring.
The ring is only 2.2g in weight, and the design all the way round the ring seem to be sunflowers.
on one of the leafs of one of the flowers is a stamp (800) but right in the center of one of the flowers is a stamp mark (6 BL). Can anyone help me find out anything about the ring, thanks john.

Hi John,

Post an image of the whole item and draw what you can see of the mark, and post an image of the drawing.

If I'm reading the numbers and letters correctly, that is, 6 BL, with the fasces symbol between them, then the maker was Carlo Maser, of Via Flora, Cortina D' Ampezzo. Carlo Maser was allotted the 6 BL number (Belluno) on the 8th February 1938.

Your ring would date to the period 1938-1944.

Hi John,

I'm afraid I can offer no further information regarding Carlo Maser.

Hopefully someone else may have some knowledge about this maker.
