probably danish 18th century spoon

Postby R ingo » Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:22 pm

Hello,
I would be interested in age and origin of this spoon. Can someone help me with this mark?

There are some indications that the spoon probably was made in Northern Schleswig/Sønderjylland, Denmark.

Kind regards,
Ringo

Hi Ringo

Yes I think Danish. Probably Rudolf Nielsen 1723 - 1810. Town mark for Aabenraa. Regards John

Hello John,
I thank you very much!
I also thought about Rudolf Nielsen ( I found something about him here: http://soelvske.dk/Web/Byer/Aabenraa/Rudolph+Nielsen ).
But the city mark looks something different to the Aabenraa marks that I know. But I only know 19th century city marks from Aabenraa and have no comparative example.

Thanks and kind regards,
Ringo

in the mark in question count 3 macrels from down and up.
Nr 4 is circles/bullets there are 2 or 3 bullets in the various marks shown in Bøje. On top op the 3 macrels.

Thats why you can count 4.
