Help with Silver Hallmarks

Postby angus4449 » Fri Jun 22, 2012 5:32 am

Is anyone able to help me please.

These hallmarks have me stumped and rather than bore you with the searches I have conducted could you please take a look at the photographs and see if anything rings a bell.

Many thanks

Hi,

Can you post an image of the whole mark? The top image appears to be clipped.

An image of the whole spoon, back and front, may also offer some clues.

Trev

This item is an old Vesta case and the edge that you see in the photograph is the inner rim.

I will try to get "more complete photos" if I can and post these. Unfortunately I will not be able to do this now until tomorrow.

Thank you very much for the reply and request, it is appreciated.

Regards

Neil

New Photo of Hallmarks

Trev

Photograph of all hallmarks as they are positioned. I have checked to see if there has been any "rollover" of the marks but nothing.

I hope this is at least of some help.

Thanks Neil

Hi Neil,

The cartouche that surrounds the crown mark is one commonly found on plated wares, this coupled with an 'EP' mark, would appear to make this a plated piece.

'TH', presumably the maker, is unknown to me, but perhaps it is one on the marks used by Thomas Harwood of Sheffield, but offered only as as possibility.
