London Maker

Any help please?
I realise that because of the date (London 1912) it cannot be Arthur Sibley - however the mark looks identical.
Suggestions?

Hello John

Arthur Sibley died in 1877 and, as you say, would not have been responsible for the mark even though similar in style.
Volume II page 21 of The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Traders 1838-1914 by John Culme indentifies three marks similar to the one on the item registered by Alexander Smith between 1866 and 1878 which may be a possibility.
Volume I page 422 of the book records Smith was still operating as a silversmith in 1913.

Regards
Mike
