mexican dagger

Postby silverace56 » Sat May 12, 2012 4:06 am

I have an old Mexican dagger, about 8 inches long, double edge. The handle is made from something black, and has been repaired at least once. A small piece missing from the handle shows some kind of string wrapped around the metal core. The blade has been etched to show some sort of Aztec (?) figure with a hat and a body shaped like a pyramid with a snake on each side standing on a pedestal. I have not found any signature or mark. I was given the dagger about 20 years ago by a freind, he said it was his fathers, who died in the early 1960s. We both live in the southwest, near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Can anyone give me a clue? Or possibly somewhere I could look?

Hello Siverace,

Welcome to the silver forum. I believe you should redirect your question to a Weapons Identification-Appraisal Service and include a couple of images of the dagger. By the way a little Google search ‘antique Mexican dagger’ will answer most of your questions. Good luck.

Regards,

Oel
