'Silver' Tea Kettle

Postby silent_bob » Sun May 06, 2012 11:21 am

hi, I have been given a tea kettle and I have been busy polishing it up to make it look nice, thinking I would find a mark of some sort. (I have no idea if it is plate or 'real' silver.)

It has a nice stand, burner and little sticks on chains that hold the actual kettle to the stand. I think it much have been used as there is limescale build up inside and the burner looks used.

How can I find out what it is made of?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

A lack of any marks is a likely indicator that your kettle is not silver, but, to be sure, try a specific gravity test.
