Need Help is it sterling or plate?

Hello...Since this is my first post I am not quite sure I'm doin it correctly however here goes.
some years ago puchased a pair of what was listed as sterling silver vases on line..I love reprousse sterling..never occured to me that maybe they were not sterling until several weeks while traveling I visited a shop that had lots of what appeared to be old sterling repousse by I think Kirk and it looked somewhat different than mine..came home and began a search for the maker of the vases for which I am still looking..I bumped into this site and I am hoping some one can assist me with help to identify the maker and to determine if what I purchased is sterling.

The bottom of the vases indicate "STERLING" and the maker is M H with a marker/design that somewhat looks like a flower/lilly unsure. I could not figure out how to upload a picture so help with that would be great too. Thanks much will look forward to hearing from someone with regards to the maker and how to upload the picture of the vases...

Hello Again,
Thank you for your patience and guidance on this matter. I am so impressed with this forum. As I was instructed I have to the best of my ability am sending two pictures of my Repousse Vases. The first Picture is of the Vase and the second is a copy of what is marked on the bottom of both vases M H with the design/mark. It has been an education researching this and am eagerly waiting to hear if any one can figure this out. Thank you for all of your time and energy to help me figure this out. I hope this is just a simple case of being a beginner and not the needle in the haystack. My gratitude

I am still searching.. Have actually found makers with the M H but not with the flower/mark. It is interesting however, we just spent a week in New Orleans (NOLA) and this flower/Mark was everywhere. I think it is the NOLA flower - don't know for sure if this flower and the Mark are the same. What I don't know is if the mark has to be there for the maker to be one and the same?? Also should I post my findings even if it is just the names of the Makers?? Let me know and I will do that. Again thanks so much. I await your reply.

Hello. I came across your post this evening and thought I would provide a little more information which will be likely out of date from your post four years ago. I have seen two examples of this maker's mark over the past couple of years at antique shows. The first was a water pitcher and the second a vase similar to yours. The M H with the Fleur-de-lis is distinctive and like you I exhausted all of my reference books for this mark without success. Since the Fleur-de-lis represented the royal arms of France it is not surprising it is so prevelant in New Orleans. My assessment of the two pieces was that they were newer pieces given the near perfect condition they were in and how the handle was attached to the body of the pitcher, along with the softer or less crisp chasing. I have several pieces of Kirk and Gorham repousse and, like you, also feel the items were not comparable. They can certainly be easily tested by a jeweler to determine if they are sterling.
