He was christened the son of Robert (Grimwade p.377) and Jane Mosley at St Luke, Finsbury in 1796.
Indentures were signed in 1811 as the son of Robert Mosley, jeweller of Fetter Lane, to be the apprentice of David Osmond Devonshire, jeweller of Old Street, St Luke.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1827 as a goldworker at 113 Fetter Lane, Holborn.
No marriage record has been found for him.
Christening records for the children of Robert and Clara Mosley show the following detail:
In 1828 for daughter Sabina at St Mark, Kennington shows her father as a watchmaker and her parents’ address as Clapham Road.
In 1832 for daughter Isabella at the same church shows her father as a goldsmith and her parents’ address as Clapham Road Place.
In 1834 for daughter Augusta at St Dunstan in the West shows her father as a jeweller and her parents’ address as Fetter Lane.
In 1836 for son Montagu at Holy Trinity, St Pancras shows no note of his father’s trade and his parents’ address as Doughty Street.
In 1838 for daughter Emily at St Pancras church, Camden shows her father as a goldsmith and her parents’ address as John Street.
In 1840 for son Spencer at Holy Trinity, Grays Inn Road shows his father as a jeweller and his parent’s address as 4 John Street, Bedford Row.
Indentures were signed in 1837, 1839 and 1849 respectively for George Battle, Lewis James Webber and George Meyer to be his apprentices as a jeweller, watchmaker or goldsmith at 113 Fetter Lane.
The 1841 UK Census record for 4 John Street shows him as a goldsmith aged 55 years. His wife Clara is shown as born in Ireland in about 1803. Also resident and all born in Ireland are a son Robert born around 1820 and three other daughters born around 1825-7.
The 1843 Post Office Directory has an entry for Robert Mosley & Son wholesale jewellers and watchmakers at the Fetter Lane address.
The 1851 UK Census and the 1856 Post Office Directory both record him at 4 John Street and still a goldsmith.
There is a burial record dated in 1859 for a Robert Mosley aged 62 years late of St George’s Square, Pimlico and Herne Bay, Kent which may be relevant.
