A Little Lamp of Some Kind??

Postby silvercrown » Sat Jan 14, 2012 1:47 pm

This piece is marked "Sterling" on the base of the handle. It has a wick of that goes inside. Is this a little oil lamp of some kind. We are baffled. Thanks.

Hi Silvercrown,

Perhaps a cigar lighter, passed around the dining table after the meal?

Trev, I never thought of that. Could be. I'll do some research on them and see what I find. Thanks and any more thoughts are welcome.

This page shows a similar cigar lamp from Gorham, circa 1898 (they burned alcohol/spirit):
