Postby ovo » Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:35 am

Hello

I recently bought this spoon, but I know nothing of these hallmarks. Someone can help me.

Thanks in advance

Javier

Hi Javier,

I have my reservations about the spoon; hallmarks and quality of the work. The sloppy way the bowl of the spoon has been attached to the handle. The Crowned 3 fishes looks like the city guild mark for Enkhuizen, used 18th century. The Lion Rampant looks like the Enkhuizen city mark for 1st standard silver. The Hart with a tree like figure could be a makers’ mark but unknown to me, the letter M an Enkhuizen date letter. Unfortunately many fake Enkhuizen spoons are offered at auction sites world wide.

For more information please go to:

Please read and look carefully at the shown photos and draw your own conclusion.
However the best is to have the spoon appraised by an expert, perhaps a well known auction house could give information about the hallmarks.

Regards,

Oel
