Your spoon is not Russian but Soviet made. The difference is more than big. Nonetheless, it is made in Juvelirnaja Fabrika Leningrad (Leningrad Jewellery factory) in 1956. It is in 875/1000 silver and it shows the tower of Peter and Paul Cathedral located on the island of Peter and Paul Fortress in the middle of St Petersburg.

Hi, All.

I want to correct. )) It's not the tower of Peter and Paul Cathedral. It's the Admiralty (Admiralteystvo). Near to the Winter Palace.
The Admiralty complex was started in 1704 as a shipping yard encircled with ramparts with a space for the Admiralty collegium sittings. The main accent of the original 1-storey high building was a spire, increased in 1727 to 72 m. In early 19 century the existing complex was constructed with its main southern facade being 406 m long. Two side isles with arches were facing the Neva. The spire with a weathervane in a form of a ship became one of the symbols of St.Petersburg.
In 1844 the shipping yard was closed and moved down the stream and the whole building was occupied by the navy ministry. In front of it the first city boulevard was laid out. The space between the aisles from the river side was filled with apartment houses in 1870ies.
Welcome to St. Petersburg.))

Hi Dad -
in Europe we call it "Peter and Paul Fortress" (Петропавловская крепость), the tower you see is the tower of the Peter and Paul Kathedral, the highest building in St. Petersburg. If you need a sightseeing tour in St. Petersburg - let me know!

Here an old Russian aquarell just to remember

Sorry bubu91. It was my fault in the beginning. Dad is right, it is the Admiralty tower.
