As an aside and not as a very strong point, I would not exclude this gentleman as the possible R A Roberts (Grimwade p.642) entry. Samuel Angel Roberts signed his name both as Samuel Roberts and S A Roberts. His penmanship was not terrible, nor was it especially clear.
