Help! Eatn Forks

Hello,
Here I am again with a new request for the experts!
First up are 5 Vorks I think 1 of the mark stands for V=Vreemd so Dutch mark for Foreign.
I guess someone must have been really hungry!
What I dont know is what the other hallmarks mean and what the content of the silver is ?/1000

Which one? The V=Vreemd.
So I guess its Imported silver?

Your eatn forks could be Dutch.

The Crowned V, large mark & The V (flowered style) small mark; large duty mark for foreign and other untaxed objects used 1814-1893, small duty mark used 1814-1831.These marks do not give any guarantee of a precious metal standard or fineness. The marks have been used on metal with a 250 minimum gold or silver content as a duty mark. These marks were destined for all imported, unmarked and invalid marked objects of foreign, national and unknown origin. Upon the invalidation of the hallmarks of Louis Napoleon’s Kingdom of Holland and those of the French Empire in 1816, these marks also have been used as tax free census marks.
With a lot of vivid imagination.
The Crowned E could be date letter (malformed) for The Hague; 1751 or for an other city?


The maker’s initials L? Or?, to me unknown.

Thanks Oel for the info!
I dont think its the date letter mentioned since the V is used 1814-1893 as you say.
Also The top doesnt look the same, the markings on the forks seem to massive.
Ok so the V-Mark does say its silver? I was about 99% sertain already, still I would like to know how much.
Is there a good way to test it? I have the scratch stone, but with silver its always difficcult.
I also have an electronic meter but it works only on gold...

p.s.
I'm Dutch myself and it came with other dutch silver, but it doesn't seem like people can tell everything about this.

Oppinions are welcome, anyone knows which year the yearmark E (or F) is?

Hi,

The forks lack the standard mark and a proper city mark. Why? It could be below legal standard. In that case the maker had to choose between destruction or ‘unguaranteed’ marking. The forks could have been stamped with the Crowned V mark on a later stage when the forks reentered the market or public sale.
