Pocket watch identification help needed!

Post by banneth »

Hi, can anyone help me identify this pocketwatch, I belive it to have a chester hallmark dated 1879, however, there is no makers' information on the mechanism - just the stamp C.C and a serial number of 12755 on the inside cover. Thanks.

I'm not really into pocket watch movements other than Patek Philippe but what I can tell you is that the watch case was made by Charles Cooke and hallmarked in Chester. Cooke was first recorded at 28 Thomas Street, Butts, Coventry in 1872. According to Culme by 1880 Cooke was listed as a watch case maker and moved to other addresses in Coventry. Hope tis helps.
