Help ID Mark Please

Postby simonr » Sat Sep 03, 2011 9:16 am

Hello, I've been an on-off visitor to this site for a while and have learned a fair bit, but never felt the need to post before.

However, I've recently taken delivery of this small (approx 14cmm x 9cm) dish:

I think the number is a design number, but I've no idea what the mark to the left of the maker's mark is:

Can anyone could shed some light on it? Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Such marks are usually described as tally or journeymen's marks, they identify the actual maker of the item.

See: http://www.925-1000.com/silverglossary5.html
