Genuine Russian satir with woman?

Postby zilverik » Wed Aug 24, 2011 12:58 pm

Hi,

This is a Russian stamp in the form of a satir with a beautifull woman. I sure hope it is genuine, but I must admit that I have my doubts. The object is just one that could be faked.

Regards,

Zilverik

Sorry, it is not a Russian made item. It is imported from somewhere to Russia and later remarked in Riga Latvia. The down cut oval kokshnik 84 looking left is the Russian import mark 1899-1908 and the 875 mark with Milda is from 1927-1940.

I think can read AP on the import mark, or? That would be the assayer Aleksandr Romanov in Riga 1895-1899 and then the exact import year would be 1899.

Hi zilverik -

this objects were mass produced articles and came from Austria/Vienna in different layouts, as satyr (porno!!!), etc. in silver 900/1000 - they are still available on flee markets. If you look close, you can read the word ...eschützt ie. "geschützt" (protected design/trade mark, etc.).

Sorry!!

Hi Qrt.S and Zolotnik,

Than you very much. Indeed this style is more Austrian than Russian. In Austria the (Jugendstil/Art nouveaux) style is called "Secession".
So, this is not Russian and not a fake.

Hi Qrt.S and Zolotnik,

Indeed I read (apart from a Dutch controlmark ZII): "900", "geschutzt" and "AP". Many thanks for your information.
It is a pity that there is no Austrian makersmark, but I can understand that because of the object. At least we know when it was imported.

Regards,

Zilverik
