Postby dartsil » Sun Aug 07, 2011 5:01 am

A wonderful survivor , hallmarked from 1773 with hallmarks all being in super clear condition.

The makers mark of {T.T} , We are unsure of, Presently we think it may be Thomas Taylor I. Can anyone confirm or discount this?

Hi Colin,

That's a lovely spoon. I think without much doubt that this is an early example of the work of the spoonmaker Thomas Tookey (Grimwade 2944).

The spoon can be dated to the period 30th October 1773, when Tookey registered this mark, and the 30th May 1774, the date of the next dateletter change.

Trev.
