Possible Georg Jensen mark?

In all the materials I have been able to find about Jensen marks, I have never seen this one (plain 'GI' with no dotted circle around it). Plus it's barely visible. Is this an authentic Jensen mark or is it a copy? Thanks.

Your bracelet is similar to the bracelet #3 design by Jensen; see "Georg Jensen - Tradition of Splendid Silver" by Janet Drucker, page 114. However, the arrangement of links does differ between your bracelet and the example illustrated in the book. George Jensen did indeed use a "GI" mark without a ring of dots during their early existence. On page 295, Drucker indicates the use of such a mark as 1909-1914. Several examples are shown in her book, on pages 66, 75, 86, 96 and 124. Although in every example, the G.I. mark has a lower silver content than .925 sterling.

Drucker's subsequent book, "Georg Jensen Jewelry," has additional examples of the G.I. mark on pages 332 and 333. In Jensen Jewelry, another photo of a #3 bracelet is shown, along with examples of a similar necklace design #1. Page 107 contains an example of a similar bracelet #1 design. Again, the arrangement of links does differ.

Is your bracelet authentic? The prices that Jensen jewelry sells for, especially those with any stone where values are higher, make it susceptible to imitation and forgery. Often the imitators and forgers err on the small details, such as an incorrect makers' mark for the time period of the metal purity used, or an incorrect arrangement of links, etc. Such errors should be suspect. Do not rely solely on markings. Compare the workmanship of your item to another Jensen piece or solicit an expert opinion to determine if your item is authentic.
