Taxco

Postby secondsout » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:41 pm

I have a bracelet that has a worn Taxco mark. I can make out the Taxco Mexico but I can't make out the mark in the middle. Any help would be appreciated.

That's the eagle head mark found on a lot of tourist items. It isn't the eagle mark found on silver that is a full body bird with a number in the center.
This is made of alpaca or another non-silver metal. You'll often find them with a false 925/sterling mark as well. It may not really be from Taxco too, I find fake sterling marks on items marked both Taxco and DF for Mexico City. Unfortunately there are 100's of falsely marked bracelets out there, I now test all Mex bracelets.
