Help to identify this piece please

Postby aussiemick » Sat Dec 04, 2010 11:50 pm

I have this bowl with lid. It looks to me to be very old, though how old I don't know. The only information is that it the Height is 9 cms and the diameter 17 cm and Weight–245 grams. It was inherited and could possibly originate in the Netherlands. Any information as to the design on the lid or origin would be most appreciated. No marks were found.

Kind Regards

Michael

It's maybe »Yogya« silver?

Hello »aussiemick«

You've assumed: »It was inherited and could possibly originate in the Netherlands.«

Well, not in the Netherlands, but in the "Far East" - and here you could find some additional basic information on »Yogya« silver; and some links too.

Sorry, some very informative sites are only in Dutch, like e.g. this one:

(Warning: If you like to use an internet translator for Dutch and you couldn't stop laugh out loud? Then the reason there fore isn't the Dutch language - but the very poor internet translator.)

Kind regards silverport
