Brooch Markings

Postby lightshine » Mon Aug 30, 2010 6:40 pm

Sorry about the picture the markings they are tiny. I take it MH is the makers mark but I can't find anything on them.

Thanks! :) I'm new to the silver scene so I'm still learning here.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea or do I need a better picture?

Hi Lightshine,

Welcome to the Forum.

A clearer image of the mark and a photo of the whole piece would, I'm sure, be of assistance in getting an answer for you.

The style and design of a piece can often be a pointer to its origin.

Regards Trev.

Hi at the moment I'm away but the symbols are MH/925/The sheffield marking/Lion and a capital letter G.

I take it MH is the maker, 925 silver, Where it was made, Again silver hallmark, G is the year?

Hello.

I think the .925 mark has been used on British sterling hallmarks since 1999.
