I can't seem to find this Hallmark anywhere! Help! Bracelet!

Postby TiffW9 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 11:35 pm

Hi all~

My name is Tiffany and I just received a bracelet that was my Grandmothers. It has been in storage since 1985 after she died. I have it now and I am trying to find out how old it is... and who made it. I have seen bracelets with similar "beads" but have yet to locate the hallmark online. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated! I love the bracelet and it is in amazing condition but it does seem fairly lightweight. Oh and there is no eagle mark anywhere that I have seen also the Hallmark that is present is an"RJA" within a circle with "Mexico" below the circle. There could have been more marks but I am not sure ... it looks like they might have worn off.

Thanks so much !

Tiffany

That's a pretty common design, the "bubbles" with the green beveled glass. I've also seen it done in red and black and in other different variations. The mark is mentioned in the hallmark book with Taxco 925 being the rest of the mark but with no further info. It's more common to NOT be able to find who the maker is than it is to find a name. Without an eagle mark it dates pre-1948.

RJA is one of the marks used on Rancho Alegre silver. Miguel Garcia Martinez was the primary designer at Rancho Alegre, but RJA is mentioned as another artisan there.
