Candlestick Bowl

Postby Granmaa » Sat Aug 07, 2010 1:34 pm

This is a peculiar object made c.1695 by Daniel Garnier with his pre-Britannia mark. Has anyone seen something similar. The bowl around the candlestick seems too big (c.25cm diameter) just to catch falling wax.
There are two crests which I will put in the crest category.

I haven't seen one before, but perhaps an early version of chamber candlestick. The larger bowl would allow for movement as well as greater stability if the piece is not weighted.
