A lion, a hammer and a crown

Postby Top Cat » Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:54 pm

Hi All,

I have tried to pin down the history of this hallmark but have been unsuccessful. The item is a teaspoon of avaerage length and composition.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Thank you

»Arm with a hammer« = maybe »Tifft & Whithing« and their successors?

Hello

Maybe it is the »Arm with a hammer« mark of »Tifft & Whithing« and their successors?

Please look here (left row, bottom): http://www.925-1000.com/ax_TifftWhiting.html

and here: http://www.925-1000.com/ax_TifftWhiting.html

I hope, that my guess could be confirmed?

Kind regards silverport

Hello Silverport,

Thank you for your input. That would make sense, an American maker using his own emblem and pseudo English marks, the lion and crown, to add authenticity to his wares.

Sneaky, these Yanks...
