unknown marks

can any one please help i have a photo frame and have tryed looking up marks but to no avail there ackward to see so unable to photo but will do best to explain.

starts with RH 925 anchor on its side then the lion mark and finally four small marks a small 2 then 3 small o's laid out with the 2 on top then the o's either side and on the bottom around a small dot set in a shamrock almost.

Welcome to the Forum.

As per the Posting Requirements a photo will be required if anyone is to help you.

If you find that the mark is impossible to photograph, draw what you see and photograph or scan your drawing and post that.

Hi Jon,

The first is the maker's or sponser's mark, unknown to me, this mark is compulsory.

The second is the purity mark, 925/1000, Sterling Standard, this mark is also compulsory.

The third is the mark of the Birmingham Assay Office, also compulsory.

The fourth is the traditional 925/1000 standard mark, this one is now optional.

The fifth is the commemorative mark fork the 2000 millenium, again optional.

The only difference on the other set is the purity mark, in this case it denotes 958/1000. the Britannia Standard.

Hi Jon,

It means that the item was assayed in 2000, it of course could have been manufactured at time earlier but is likely to have been made very near to that date.
