Postby dognose » Wed Jul 21, 2010 3:02 am

Hi,

Trying to help a friend with the identificaton of this mark.

To me, the style of the maker's mark suggests a Spanish origin.

Any thoughts very much appreciated.

Google Translation:
Dear dognose, reviewing old posts I found this and indeed there is a Spanish brand LA / RRAÑAGA. Ignacio Larrañaga silversmith belongs to the city of San Sebastian (Spain) between 1763-1797. Contrast the position I occupy in the last two decades of the century. You know it works quite marked only with your personal brand without locality.
The other two brands the unaware, it may be a part made by marked contrast Larrañaga and elsewhere.
I have a book with some of his works if you want a picture, I will be happy mandártelas.

Hi Funkel,

Many thanks for the information. It's always good when the older posts are finally answered. At the moment I'm struggling to remember who asked me to post the question for them, but whatever, I'm sure there are others who would like to see some examples of the work of Ignacio Larrañaga, so it would be great to see some images.

Hi Funkel,

That's great, thank you.

The hand, especially, is very impressive, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before.

Regards, Trev.

Saludos

Hello Dognose, is a bit .... "special" you know ... is a shrine and inside there is a part of the body of the saint, perhaps a piece of bone in the arm or hand. A I do not like anything but ... (I mean the bone).
