Do you know this Mexican mark??

The mark looks like WS...but it is not a Spratling mark...does anybody know who the artist is??? Is reads - Sterling W? S Mexico (please see pic.1 for details). Thanks in advance for your help.

The only ones listed in the hallmark book are for Spratling or a WS in a crown. This is probably another of the unknown designers, it's more common to NOT be able to find the maker than to find them.

Hi again, True it is not Spratling...and before this site I had a much harder time identifying more obscure marks. But someone has to know it....I've just posted these pics. earlier today...so who has the knowledge to solve this quandry?

Is there any way you could get a photo closer up? I cannot see this one at all. However, Serafin Moctezuma's mark is often confused for William Spratling. Turn it over and look. You can see his and other marks in Billie Hougart's book, "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade Hallmarks".

It's a definite WS, not the conjoined mark of Moctezuma.
