Sterling Picture Frame ID

Postby JeffTheGreat » Sat Jul 17, 2010 10:47 am

I am guessing this is American. Sterling footed oval frame. The logo is three diamonds with the letters I, N, D.
Can any one identify the age and maker?

From the Encylcopedia of American Silver Manufacturers, Revised 5th Edition, by Dorothy T Rainwater & Martin and Colette Fuller, the mark is I N Deitsch New York, New York, listed in Jeweler's Circulars 1904-15 as manufacturers of sterling silverware. No records after circa 1920.

You're welcome. Isaac Newton Deitsch died in 1919, so it's not too surprising that there is not much further record of the company after 1920.

I believe Isaac was the middle brother between Charles and Edward Joseph Deitsch who were the founders of Deitsch Bros .

There's a few "unusual" Deitsch Bros ads in this 1898 edition of the Jeweler's Circulars that caught my attention: http://books.google.com/books?id=4HMoAA ... ch&f=false
