Trying to identify Makers Mark.

Postby brian-be » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:46 pm

Dear 925-1000,
It has been easy to identify this piece as PLUGO PLATA ARTISTICA 925 TAXCO MEXICO, but I can’t find this Makers Mark anywhere. If anyone can identify the Maker, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Brian.

Plata means silver so the mark is most likely Plugo Artistica. I found several pieces with that mark but none with the maker ID'd and the mark isn't in the hallmark book, except for a mention of Plata Artistica which had no info.

There was a Porfirio Lugo working in Taxco in the fifties. The mark would translate as P. Lugo, Artistic Silver.

Regards, Tom
