Bamboo walking stick

Post by Kamorek »

Hello there

I`ve just bought a bamboo walking stick with silver knob.
there are marks on it (from left to right):

Marker`s mark: HTB
Duty mark: 1838 - 1890 Queen Victoria I
Silver standart marks: Sterling .925
Date letter: H (1883?)
City mark: London (uncrowned leopard`s head 1822 to present).

am I right?
But I can`t find any info about marker`s mark "HTB"
do you know who is it?

I date that walking stick on 1883 (by date letter).
Thank you for any help with that marks (HTB).

Peter

Hello.

That would be Brockwell & Company.
Frederick Henry Brockwell (FHB) founded the firm around 1859.
Son Henry Titterton Brockwell (HTB) took over the firm c.1873.
Firm closed c.1910.

Agree with your date of 1883.

Pat.
