An new index

Postby wev » Sun Jun 06, 2010 3:53 pm

I have a first draft ready of a new project derived from my Silversmith and Related Craftsmenstudy:

Silversmiths Sorted by State and City

I still have another 300 or so makers to add manually, but I'd like to hear if this is seems useful and easy to follow. If it meets with approval, I'll start in on similar pages for jewelers, watch and clockmakers, pewtersmiths, etc.

Any comments appreciated.

Hi Wev,

It's brilliant, a fine resource that compliments your main website.

For those who may be unaware, Wev's project has been selected for archiving by the Library of Congress, so in theory it will now be updated for eternity. Congratulations William, it's an honour most deserved.

Regards Trev.

Thanks, Trev. I've wanted to do it for some time, but it took some tricky dancing to get the data retrieved in a reasonable format for coding up the page.

As for the LOC, it's a relief for my wife; one less thing to worry about when she's finally had enough and plonks me over the head with a silver tankard. . .

Thanks, Tom. Never one to leave well enough alone, I decided to add in partnerships,, so I now have another 2,700+ lines to code and add.

Good thing I don't have an actual job to get in the way -- hang on, they're here to shut off the gas. . .
