Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

That is a mark used by William Adams Ltd., Compass Works, Birmingham.

Established in 1866 they were still in business until at least the 1930's. They had showrooms in London and New York.

See: http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_A.html

The note I have of their New York address is:
1348, Sixth Avenue,
Hotel Warwick (54th St),
New York.

I wonder what's there now?

hey thank you very much. i was looking under W instead of A. oops.

is the number on it a patent number? and if so which area does it fall under in the patent number dates section?

because if its on the left side it says it was 1865 i think and the other side says its 1915 or so.

Hi,

No, that would be a pattern or catalogue number.

Checking a little further, reveals that they were still around in the 1960's

Trev, the Warwick Hotel still occupies the site at 54th & Sixth, although its address has been changed to 65 W. 54th Street. Built in 1926 by William Randolph Hearst, the building has been fully restored.
