Is this a bouquet pin??

Postby silvercrown » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:31 am

This is a Victorian-era, sterling pin with a faceted, amber-colored stone set into the bottom. The little "cup" is open on one end. We are thinking this may have been for a flower or nosegay. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Silvercrown,

You have I suspect, the silver mount of what was originally a grouse's foot. They were popular pieces of Scottish jewellry from the late 19th to mid 20th century.

We have had posts on these items before, but I can't find one where the images have not been deleted.

Hopefully someone may have one of these items that is complete that they can post an image of.

Trev,

Thanks for the quick response. I believe you are correct. Years ago I recall having a bird's foot mounted in something similar. I apprececiate the information and thank your for solving our mystery.
