What-is-it question CLXVI.

Postby 2209patrick » Sat Sep 26, 2009 4:03 pm

Here is an American item that is popular with U.S. collecters.
However, I was thinking our members living outside the U.S. may not be familiar with these.

It is 11.25 inches ( 28.58 cm.) high and the base is 4 inches ( 10.16 cm.) in diameter.
This silverplated piece was made by the Derby Silver Company, c.1883.

What is it called ?

Well done Robert.
Yes, it is a pickle castor.

By the early 1900's these had gone out of style.
