Individual Maker's Mark for 1930s Italian Rings

Postby DrJacqui » Sat Aug 29, 2009 3:48 pm

I seek to learn the individual maker of an Art Nouveau ring made in Arezzo (AR) during the 1934-44 period of the fasces national symbol for Italy. The mark to the left of the fasces looks like either a 7 or a hammer or a fire axe--or even sometimes like a 1. I send the clearest pictures I have been able to take.

Is there a catalog of individual maker's marks that I can consult? Would anyone happen to have more information about any aspect of these hallmarks?

As you'll note, this ring is made of gold, not silver. I have been unable to find a forum like this one that deals with gold hallmarks.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

If the mark is

1 AR
the maker is Uno a Erre (still working)

7 AR

Domini & Domini (I don't know if they are still working)

A belated thank-you to you, aghino. The number does indeed turn out to be 1.
