these are hallmarks on a pocket watch chain. I am not sure if they are Sheffield hallmarks. In such a case, what´s the year?

However, when I see hallmarks charts for Birmingham the lion shield base is plain, whereas in Sheffield, the shape of the lion has the same underneath peak than the shield of the picture. Although the letter shield is very similar, in fact, to that of Birmingham. Does it mean that only the shape of the letter -and not the lion shield- is what we have to bear in mind when trying to determine the year?
