Help Identifying Silver Salt Dips

Postby IWantMyMonkeyMan » Fri Nov 04, 2005 6:09 pm

My guess is that these salt dips ( I have 3 ) are Mexican. The mark reads Plata Zetko 1015. They are hand done, with cast feet.

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Hi,
Your salts are from Peru and each was raised from a Peruvian silver coin. The coat of arms at the center of the coin was left alone as the outer edge was forged into the walls of the bowl.

The center of the bowl shows the coat of arms of Peru, would guess that it was wrought from a silver coin (can see the remnants of a staff and robes from the reverse of the coin, on the base of your piece).
