Abalone Inlaid Necklace / Pin Marked Hecho en Mexico EL

Wondering if anyone could help with these Initials?
I'm assuming the piece did say 925 on top of the EL mark, but has faded away.

The mark said Hecho en Mexico which means Made in Mexico, it may not be sterling, lots of this style were done in alpaca, an alloy of nickel, copper and zinc so you may want to test it.
There's no EL listed in the Mex hallmark book. It only really helps to have the maker when they're famous, doesn't seem to affect value otherwise.
